Merdeka Day in Singapore

Going off to Singapore in 5 hours time =D

"Strive continuously to make new progress." NTU, July 2008. Photo taken by CCDDSS.

To deliver some stuff, collect YUI stuff and my SGYL T-shirt, not to forget, EAT. I am going to confirm the theory which says that Malaysian hawker food >>>>> Singapore hawker food, together with two MYYLs, one ID-SGYL, and 3 SGYLs.

I told my friends that I'm going to see my honey in Singapore instead lol.

Will be back on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, check out latest YUI Diary.

Hopefully, with the time off, YUI can finally get her driving license and travel overseas.

I still feel kinda sad with such abrupt notice, because dear YUI messes with my secret plan. I just hope that she will come back in next year, as in 1 January 2009.

Lastly, I have finished my birthday upload give away thing, and I have sent two books to Philippines, one each to Hong Kong, USA, and Malaysia.

Happy 51st Birthday, Malaysia.

Miscelleanous YUI Discoveries

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Misc YUI Info:

YUI daisuki! san has posted something interesting again.

New album = BEST album?! MY SHORT STORIES??!! (<- reminds me of My Story by Ayumi)

Rumoured FC tour = Best album tour?!

Gotta join the YUI member club soon.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Discovery 1:

Remember this thread about 10 things you might not know of YUI? I mentioned that YUI never wears anything skirt/ pants above her kneecap on public.

That was partially true. YUI accidentally revealed her legs in YUI Radio special. Check.these.out.

Nice leg there.

Gotta praise those people in 2ch for being so observant XD

Pictures were taken from YUI Radio #14 (2006.09.28).

Discovery 2:

From the same video,

is

Discovery 3:

I was listening to this online radio show between Kondo Hisashi aka Shigezou san and Norihiro Koizumi, the director of Taiyou no Uta, Koizumi san said that the birds flying around in I remember you PV were specially trained (he is the director for this PV as well). It wasn't a coincidence that the birds happened to fly by.

The birds are too good to be true. If you look closely, they always fly in the same direction, then do a circle and return back.

They found this experienced bird trainer who stays nearby and asked him to perform his 'trick' in the PV.

No wonder YUI didn't answer anything when Shigezou san was wondering whether the birds flew by naturally or not. It was still a SECRET when they were recording YUI Radio 14.

Discovery 4:

Not really a discovery but, the Fender Jaguar rumour was true~

Source: YUI Staff Diary Aug 26.

YUI's first electric guitar with tremolo attached I guess. She 'removed' tremolo of her Strats. Finally another electric with rosewood fretboard.

Kinda sad that Ueno Juri didn't have the chance to bump into YUI in MTV Student Voice Award 2008. Since YUI didn't attend the award ceremony.

YUI Connects Fans From part of the World Together

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Misc YUI Info:

Icchi san (YUI's staff) has 'revived' YUI Lines (previously called YUI LOCKS) with his live report on YUI 3rd tour finale in Osaka. Pictures can be found in this link.

YUI looks cute in that Hanshin Tigers' baseball cap =3

I better 'listen' to it first before upload to you guys.

PS: I wonder if YUI is one of the unknown artist in the upcoming SOL Young Flag 2008 concert, which starts on September. Since YUI participated last year and sang Driving today, perhaps...?

If that's the case......

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Through this blog and YL, YF, I kinda get to know YUI fans from Japan, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Canada, US, Australia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Venezuela (haha), Brazil, France, Russia, Singapore etc. Recently Macau too.

Thanks to YUI, somehow I can 'boast' to others that I know someone someone from Japan, Canada, US, Venezuela, these 'exotic' countries. Though we are not THAT close, don't worry, your friends will not know. Yea I'm the proud arrogant Leo.

I'm going to Singapore on next Sunday (31st, 8.45 am bus from KL to SG), that makes the third trip in this year. First was around end of May, second time was around beginning of July.

Went to NTU. That is the most beautiful faculty building I've ever seen. Compare to my own faculty...haih. Picture taken by CCDDSS.

Singapore is the only foreign country which I can go frequently by bus = cheap. The bus fare for two way is just around 18 USD, and I stay in my uncle's house. I can go whenever I want as long as I have the time, don't really have to worry about the budget.

Plus ah Mel is there LOL. I can just take MRT or bus straight to her house, very convenient. Some half Singaporean Malaysian YLs are there too.

The main reason I go to Singapore to deliver stuff. I'm a postgirl. If I'm in luck, I'll receive something in return (cash in SGD lol).

This time I'm gonna deliver some books, notes and some of these:

That green thing in the middle is this marimokkori featured in Tachiyomi corner. YUI bought it for one of her staff. As for the magazine in the middle which featured Last Friend's cast, it is meant to make someone jealous.

If any of you SGYLs are interested in magazines and books I mentioned in my birthday giveaway, I'll try to deliver to you. More books included:

1. Reader's Digest Select Edition which included:
- Greg Iles's 24 Hours
- Nicholas Sparks's A Bend In The Road
- Nicholas Evans's The Smoke Jumper
- Anne Tyler's Back When We Were Grown-Ups
2. Christopher Paolini's Eragon and Eldest (The books are wayyyy better than the movie).
3. Eoin Colfer - Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident
4. 卡耐基成功之道全集 - Dale Carnegie practically saved my university life, but I don't read English to Chinese translation books.
5. 林真理子-美女入門 (lol)

Me is going to collect my SGYL T-shirt, I heard that it looks very nice =D

In every trip, I always look out for great local food. I was kinda regretted that I didn't try any of the street food in my trip to Bangkok.

I've been hearing these 'wonderful comments' on SG hawker food from Malaysians, so far I haven't tried them yet. Most of the food I ate in SG were quite nice. Old Chang Kee, The Soup Spoon, MOS Burger, Yakun, Katong laksa (thanks to Helixius~), gotta love Mr. Bean XD

Ma Maison
was an exception, even though the food was really great. Now I'm saying $$$ for something else, I'm a budget traveller, plus I'm acting as a 'postgirl', not tourist in this trip.

See, no hawker food at all, nor mamak. Okla, I've been to the canteen of NUS and NTU, some of them were nice, some just so-so. The fish rice thingy (魚片飯) in NTU is LOVE and cheap, vegetarian food in Singapore is love too.

If any of Singaporean YL knows hawker stalls (or cheap food) which can beat Malaysia's, and has the time to bring me there, I'll be glad to give one of those free papers/magazines/books as a token of appreciation.

So...cheap (below 10 bucks) hawker food and mamak (Prata, Tosai). Anyone? Btw, fellow MYYL, now SGYL natsumi is looking for nice food too. She's sick of the hawker food near Bishan.

This Malaysian girl's Singapore food trip sounds yummy though.

The Identity of YUI Radio host, Shigezou san

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Misc YUI guitar Info:

Apparently YUI got herself a new electric again. This time is WHITE in colour.

According to YUI daisuki! san, YUI used this white electric in recent Matsuri~na 2008 live. She 'flashed' it during performance of No way.

No wonder it sounds different when I heard it. Slightly louder.

Then YUI daisuki! san discovered something in Fender Blog. It was about some new Fender Jaguar.

○○○もジャガーを…弾いちゃうよ。
ooo plays Jaguar...too.

OOO?!

The new model is JAGUAR SPECIAL HH, it has Olympic White version too.

I'm gonna faint.

Special thanks to YUI daisuki! san. His/her blog is my recent favourite.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm sure you guys are wondering who is the host with that annoying voice every time tuning into YUI RADIO. But then, when YUI turns into Yuppie using the same sound distortion technique, everybody thinks she is cute haha.

The identity of Shigezou san has been a mystery ever since the first episode (6 February 2006).

NOT ANY MORE now. I think.

Before I reveal his identity, let me give you some hint.

Still no clue...??
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Kondo Hisashi
.

He is YUI's music director. That guy in the studio, talking to YUI in the TYMT documentary. They've been working together since feel my soul, or maybe earlier.

How did I know? From this website. YUI fans were discussing about this online radio show by Mr. Kondo. Apparently his first guest is, Taiyou no Uta's director Koizumi Norihiro.

Talking about coincidence. They mentioned YUI too, I haven't listen to the whole thing though. Gotta check it out soon.

You can listen/download yourself and compare between these Kondo san and Shigezou san's voice.

THEN,

Hisashi Kondo's new blog entry revealed his association with YUI RADIO. I cannot remember which episode but YUI and Shigezou san were talking about drinks vending machine which has Welch outside recording studio.

Welch occupied two rows of the machine, and always sold out, thanks to the influence from our dear YUI. I bought one too for the very first time.

Now Kondo san blogs about Welch occupying four rows of the vending machine.

Is this a coincidence? Or he happens to be an avid listener of YUI Radio??

I wonder will YUI be one of the guest of his radio show.

PS: I have mailed two books the other day, the shipping costs more than the book itself. To *sky* and xanimefreak13x, please email your addresses before I change my mind xD

half-banana 21st Birthday Giveaway: Magazines, Books, YUI Files

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Misc YUI Info:

After watching Nodame and Last Friends, I've become a big fan of Ueno Juri.

What does it have to do with YUI??

Ueno Juri mentioned YUI on this radio show called FM802 Design The Night (06/02/2008). This is what she said when the host asked her what music does she listen to:

Juri: In any case, I'm really into UK Rock. Recently, for Japanese songs, for female artist, it would be YUI. Male artist would be Bump of Chicken. Both of them are really cool.

Translated by fujii_itsuki, with uchihamel as QC.

Find out more about this and Ueno Juri goodies in Ueno Juri's LJ community.

PS: I started out with SPEED, and I love UK rock too =3

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a rough list on what I'm going to upload in the next 22 days. Some of them were uploaded before, don't miss it this time =D

What should I insert in those empty blanks...

As for magazines/books give away, here are some of the books I'm giving away. I have more, but I don't know where are they, some are borrowed, some......

I've read 'em all~

I'm going to add Haruki Murakami's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle if I can finish it by September.

If you guys are interested, leave a comment on which book you want and tell me where are you from. I'll mail it to you for free if you don't mind air/sea mail, until I went broke.

I just finished Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point, now reading Freakonomics, I couldn't understand this book when I first read it last year (English level too low). Now I kinda know why this book is so popular, it's interesting. Going to read Blink next.

These Japanese entertainment magazines (J-Point) are in Chinese. Back then when I know no Japanese, and no access to the internet, J-Point is my number 1 source of J-related stuff.

Every two weeks, I'll go to the only shop who has this magazine and buy it. Each copy was around RM 7.50, for a 15 year old, it was consider quite expensive. For SPEED & Hamasaki Ayumi, for Jpop, I rather spend less on fancy clothes and food. They had this column on Ayumi's history, for 10+ issues. I was determined to collect each issue, until the magazine shop stop selling J-Point. I was really sad about it, I've looked everywhere, nobody was selling this magazine any more.

Teenagers, you know. Grades, J-stuff, friends, were some of the things mattered in my teenage life. My world was very small, and now I couldn't read my fave magazine, it was as if part of my world has gone. lol. I can spend whole day reading J-Point back then.

Now that I can read Japanese, I discovered that most of these magazines just translate articles from Japan magazines, and compiled them together. We wouldn't know how accurate it is, without the original source. They can make up anything they want.

If any of you are interested, leave a comment as well. Since the magazines are quite heavy, you might have to pay for the shipping fees.

I'm going to sell them to second hand book stores or recycle if nobody wants them by September. I go for simplicity more these days, only keep YUI stuff, in HDD. I stopped buying magazines as well, unless YUI is on the cover.

So, help me get rid of these xD

half-banana 21st Birthday Plan: Giving Back to YUI Community

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I feel like being a Santa again.

From today onwards, I will be uploading various YUI files EVERYDAY until end of August. Mostly audio because I have super slow connection.

Preview of stuff you can download:

- Magazines
- Misc short video clips, like the one above.
- Radio shows
- YUI Tour in Kumamoto
- ROCK IN JAPAN 2008

All thanks to the people in 2ch and YF. I hope that I can at least squeeze out another page of ROCKIN' ON interview.

Besides that, I'm going to dispose my old magazines by giving away to those who want it. Maybe throw in a couple of books as well. I'm not really a collector so having a personal library doesn't excite me. I rather give all my books away.

That's all for now. Do remind me if I didn't upload anything for more than a day.
