My Generation

As I was preparing myself to write something else in my next entry, YUI came out with something again. New PV.

My Generation

制服 脱ぎ捨てた
16のアタシに
負けたくないから・・・

I had threw off that school uniform
Because I don't want to lose by that 16 years old me

Non-official lyrics

YUI's comment from the preview:

すごい強い気持ち込めたので
負けない強さを感じてほしい

"I included a lot of powerful feelings in it,
hope you guys can feel that strong will of not being easily defeated"

She actually wrote a message in Seito Shokun's official website but I can't find it there anymore, luckily I pasted it in the forum.

"For the song My Generation, I started to work on the music composition after I received the script of Seito Shokun!. I have written songs for movies and dramas several times before, but when I read the script, the first thing came up in my mind was 3 years ago when I was 16, that time when I quited school to pursue the path of music. The moment when I realised that 'As long as if I'm ready for everything, no one is gonna able to stop me and for the first time in my life I'm free!' was included too. I'm looking forward to the drama too. This time I recorded it along with electric guitar as well. Please listen to it."

Not sure on the red colored part. Don't believe in everything I typed =x Tell me if I mistranslated.

The description in the discography section in YUI-net:

YUIは高校に入学して1年(当時16歳で)音楽を目指し中退している。そのとき当然メジャーデビューが決まっていたわけではない。まだ何ひとつ手がかりのないまま、とにかく音楽の道を自分で切り開くべく環境を変えたのだ。そんな高校中退時の決意を強く感じられる楽曲。サウンドは『CAN'T BUY MY LOVE』で魅せた彼女本来のギターロックだ!ギターソロも本人が担当している。

YUI decided to quit school and pursue music (that time she was 16) a year after she entered high school. Of course it doesn't mean that her major debut was finalised or anything yet at that time. Even if she still haven't grabbed on hold of anything, somehow just try using own way to find the path of music and try to change the environment. A song which can feel the strong determination of the moment when she quited high school. The sound of the song follows the charm of 'CAN'T BUY MY LOVE' which is YUI's original guitar rock! She's in charge on the guitar solo too.

Again, don't believe in everything I typed, and correct me if I'm wrong.

So I already had the image of YUI rocking out with her electric guitar (probably her Strat) and maybe, YUI in school uniform (hohoho) or guitar solo in the PV.

Guess I got it right, abit xD

YUI hand in pocket + jeans + boots + GUITAR CASE = deadly combo!!!!!!!

The Ring 3?!

This looks cool....sometimes they look up sometimes they look down....YUI ah YUI, why you asked someone elses to wear that school uniform?? T.T Abit short though LOL.

Different setting, outfit, electric guitar.....same people.

GUITAR SOLO!!!! On public for the first time xD She looks damn 'yao yeng' (cool?) doing the bending thing. I'm gonna learn that part lol, but I'm still confused by the tab T.T Btw is YUI doing different ways of solo?? Maybe the editing confuses me =/

As usual, constipated look.

END. Some said that YUI should act again because she was basically 'flirting' around with the camera lol in the PV. Showing us how 'strong' her determination is through her EYES. Now she really used to the cameras, I should improve myself too......

I was trying to look for callouses on her left hand LOL. Maybe they 'photo shopped' it.

Credits to: doobie@jpopsuki for the original file, and all the YUI lovers out there who helped to 'spread' the PV =D

This PV gonna be one of my fave now, along with I remember you and LIFE. Maybe because it has 'some' story behind it, not just plain YUI with her guitar. The drummer is actually a girl!! Same band members as the Rolling star PV. I only found out after....so long that the drummer is a girl lol. I like the way she plays the drums, very energetic!! Must 'influence' my future housemate to learn it now haha.

Maybe YUI can learn it from her too lol, or maybe him (don't post around his pics btw).

(SOURCE: YUI-net)

Then YUI can do something like Teddy Geiger in her next PV. Not the 'stealing' part though. The pool scene 'ruined' my impression towards him =.= Call me conservative =P

Till then, au revior.

*goes to watch the PV again~*

YUI no Ontama 26/03/2007

Sorry for the long delay. Lazy =x Youtube deleted the files so no links for this episode lol. A screenie in case you don't know what am I talking about:

personal Q

Subbed version on YouTube

YUI: plain

Wordings in the boxes: green, and the smaller ones: orange
Words popped out by YUI: pink

Start!!

*CHE.R.RY~*

YUI no Ontama

Female voice: Brought to you by au by KDDI.

personal Q - YUI

First up, which was the first CD you bought it yourself?

YUI: It was Yaida Hitomi's, with some red-ish cover thing.

Yaida Hitomi - Candlize

I wonder why YUI never 'attempt' to tell the name of the album properly after being asked like...more than 3 times from what I know xD

Sing it for us!

YUI: La La La…, like a love song~ sukui you no nai tame raiya~ Someting like that.

Actual lyrics: La La La… our life, like a love song
Yes I looked it up LOL, oh she's singing Life's Like A Love Song, track number 10. This album is actually one of my fave from Yaiko =D

How were you like when you were small?

YUI: I was a naughty child back then. I used the bug catching net and caught a little wild boar.

She talked about this incident in Top Runner too. YUI thought that it was a puppy when she saw it and brought back home. Then her mom told YUI that it's not, if the parents of the young will boar were around that time it'll be pretty dangerous. Naughty girl lol.

Can't imagine what she'll be in the future.

What sort of things will you do during holidays?

YUI: Visit the music stores and book stores, play guitar, make music, watch live concerts.

What if you get 1 month of holiday?

YUI: Hmm..I'll think carefully about that but, I wish to watch as many live concerts as possible.

Ontama's FM Aircheck Click Ranking, the song which gets the most attention in the FM is,

1. YUI - CHE.R.RY

2. Angela Aki - Sakurairo
3. Dreams Come True - Osaka LOVER

Happy birthday to you~ x3

YUI: *blows the candles* Thank you. It's wonderful.

Happy Birthday.

Turned 20 on 26th of March!!

Turning 20, first up what things you wish to do?

YUI: えーと、えーと、あのう。。。what I wanna do?? Eat 2 nikuman (meat filling bun). It seems like there's something special about the word "2"!!

In recent Yahoo live talk, some fan brought up this topic, and YUI said that she ate one with curry filling another one with meat filling xD Not sure whether she was joking or not.

Brought to you by au by KDDI.

Left: Slightly funny YUI's chaku mero. Right: YUI again in tommorow.

END.

I found other episodes of Ontama when I was wondering if someone will upload it again since it got deleted. Endlicherix2 really good at guessing his own songs LOL. Actually Dohmoto Tsuyoshi is one of my fave male artist (note: not Kinki Kids), one of the Johhny's who REALLY can sing and a great musician as well (just that his fashion sense....). I like Dohmoto Tsuyoshi's songs more than Endlicherix2's, maybe I'm not really into funk genre, with those trumpets and other blowing instruments. [si:] is still one of my all time favourite album =P

And apparently the Japanese doesn't like this sort of genre as well:

Was surprised that dear YUI managed to defeat him, since it's her second week. Thought Kinki Kids is 'unbeatable' in terms of these chart thing (I read they only got number 2 once in the first week). Guess YUI is really popular these days. Somehow I got a weird mixed feelings about it......especially on people spreading out wrong infos, well that's LIFE =x

One more exam paper to go......

Till then, adios~

「不完全な僕らに対する解答」 YUI ~ Thank you My teens!10代最後の日のストリートライブ ~

*still in deeply touched mood after watching it*

It's 2:27 am now. Can't sleep. Guess I'm deeply poisoned by YUI, especially after watching this documentary. About her last days being a teenager.

Shinguu beach ~borned and raised in Fukuoka~ (11/02/2007)

The first thing she said when she saw the beach was 'natsukashii~' (it's been a long time/ nostalgic/ 好懷念) and she went crazy running here and there. Even the cameraman was forced to run along (she wears chucks btw, I think).

A dog named Lara which she used to play with. Apparently it still remembers dear YUI, and gave her a hard time when she tried to bring it out for a walk once. See the beware of fierce dog' sign besides YUI? xD

The Chinese restaurant YUI used to work at when she was around 15-16 (finally I got the chance to see it lol). YUI kept the key of her locker back then till now (impressive) and returned it back to the owner 4 years later. Which btw what's the name of the blue Sesame Street monster she's holding?? Given by her old bandmates.

This was the place she moved out and lived alone for the first time. She said that when she can't sleep at night she will blow those bubble thing from above and see that if people passed by will notice or not. If they realised she'll hide herself lol.

She used to practice guitar here often back then, mostly at night. The staircases of Yahoo! JAPAN DOME where you can see the view of the sea (Nice practicing spot.....).

SHIN SHIN ramen restaurant which seems like a lot of famous people (including YUI) like to visit. YUI said that she signed for them the first time she went there, when she came again for the second time, she realised that her writing was too ugly and felt ashamed of it, requested to re-sign it and put it on top. YUI had dinner with some local radio staff who taught her a lot back then when she first hosted radio (too bad I never had the chance to hear it). YUI seemed very excited when she heard that she can perform street live (for 30 minutes) on that day (decided last minute). She said that she still continue performing street live even after debuted (Feb) until June.

I see...that's how you tune the guitar with pre-amp.....(11/02/2007, 22:10~)

She performed Good-bye days, Free Bird, feel my soul and It's happy line. Why she had to take taxi in the end?? No personal van?

Recording studio (04/03/2007, Tokyo)

She demo-ed How crazy, RUIDO (she was saying the tuning kinda off) and Happy Birthday to you you. *gasp* What's that guy doing at her back anyway? He seemed bored.

AND feel my soul.

*SCREAMS* No wonder she said that she wants a keyboard. My wish to see her playing piano came true =D Next will be seeing her playing bass and drums. The interviwer thought that YUI learned piano when she was small xD Actually she learned it along with guitar when she was 15-16. Read in PATi PATi magazine, the writer was kinda 'shocked' first saw YUI played drums during rehearsal. Hmm.....

'16 my dream~' That guy besides her is Sony Music Records' Sound Director. He's the one who wrote the descriptions in the discography section of YUI's official homepage. The last song she recorded before she turns 20, which is My Generation. Even during recording YUI likes to 'kiss' the mic LOL. Another wish came true =D To see her playing electric guitar (without any other instruments lol). It's great to see what it's like in a recording studio. Can't wait for the new drama!! This Friday.....(got exams though T.T)

At last, YUI's last street live before she turns 20 (25/03/2007, Shibuya, Tokyo, around 9:45 pm)

I don't know why the cameramen had to 'focus' on YUI's face most of the time (I'm more interested on what chord she's playing lol, being a copycat). After she performed a slightly slower version of Rolling star, she kinda thinks that the audience were not close enough, kinda 'used her own way' to make people moved front without really requesting it (lol I'm bad at describing it).

She made this face when she messed up the lyrics of Thank you My teens =P I should play that song for myself too on 3rd of August this year (hint*hint). After watching all those performances I'm so fired up to practice guitar now LOL.

If you read her diary you will recognise the cake hee. I think the guy besides her is her manager.

It's 5:40 am now. LOL. I better go study now. Supposed to do the Ontama this week or rant about something elses but YUI is too hard to resist.

I think I'm gonna get sued by posting so many pictures *runs away*

Till then, au revior~ 私も頑張らなきゃ。。。

Lost in Translation

SOURCE : oricon STYLE

I wanna watch this thing!!

This is something we should really celebrate. First ever number 1. And 3rd youngest female singer songwriter who is able to top Oricon chart, behind Utada Hikaru and Avril Lavigne.

I used to care about it, whether my fave artist managed to get number 1 and so on. For YUI, I've been following her for quite some time now, I still remember TOKYO, which never entered top 10 even though it was such a great song. Doesn't really matter for me, as long as I still buy her CDs. Even YUI herself said that she doesn't really care about it (of course she's happy about it). Compare with that, been able to make music that continues inspire people is much more important. I always found myself respect her even more after reading her interviews, the words she said. Sometimes it makes me wonder, is such person even exist?? Too good to be true.

Lets just hope that she won't overwork herself, with coming concert tour, new single on June. Give YUI more time to watch movies (my last movie was Dreamgirls...T.T), attend concerts, read more books and get the damn driving license so that she can drive to Osaka in anytime and surprises her friends or whatever.

Oh yea, I got the album the day after the release date.

I'm the one in green shirt. It was fun, meeting someone you knew through Internet for the first time (thanks to YUI, of course), someone that shares the same interest as you. I might visit her someday again lol. June?

I was 'collecting' data the other day and guess whats YUI's favourite 'emoticon'? (taken from hotexpress interview)

YUI:なんだろう?普通に“ビックリマーク(!)”とか(笑)。

ビックリマーク (surprise mark?)

Is exclamation mark an emoticion?? Double it better (!!). I prefer triple though (!!!) haha. Oh yeah YUI has the habit of bringing notes along (so that she doesn't suddenly blank out) while doing MC during concerts, apparently now she doesn't need it anymore.....can give speech freely now. Someday, I'll have to see it myself T.T

Which btw they spelled [Rollong star] in the interview.......it's like 'lorong bintang' xD

Finally finished download this episode of Bokura no Ongaku. Starring Zazen boy's Mukai Shutoku and Shiina Ringo.

That guy was practically smoking + drinking in front of Ringo san =.= But then even dear YUI 'admires' him, listens to his album early in the morning, went to his acoustic live....I like this part the most:

Mukai : Back then every time people asked you to sing or join bands, you never refused?
Ringo : Yea I was cheap woman.
Mukai : That means now you're expensive?
Ringo : I'm still cheap.

LOL. Quote of the day. Shiina Ringo was funny actually, and surprisingly quite simple. Her dream is to remarry xD And 'make' a sister for her son LOL. I love this program~

Mukai san used Takamine acoustic!! (how can he manage to memorise that 7 mins long song...) Now I know why YUI likes the song KIMOCHI now. The 'straight-ness'.

Speaking of guitars, Fender Japan is giving out free guitars with YUI's signature on it. In conjunction on the release of CAN'T BUY MY LOVE.

First FROM ME TO YOU version....

Then CAN'T BUY MY LOVE....

Squier Telecaster.

And apparently one is not enough, they added another FENDER Stratocaster!! (shocked!!)

I'm gonna go crazy. How crazy is that? Which btw today is the deadline. (I think it's already ended)

*Runs away*

I don't know if I'm qualify to say such things, the downside of knowing Japanese is....you realise a lot of things tend to lost in translation. Sometimes you just don't know whether you should point it out or not, because people might think you acting like a smart ass. Especially when you found out that someone who supposed to be better than you made such mistake.

It's like, telling YUI that she played the wrong note.

So, if I ever make any mistakes, well not grammatically (cos you'll find lots of it lol), as in overall context, do tell me. Even though I might feel sad about it for a while lol. The last thing I wish to do is spreading to wrong info about dear YUI.

*Runs away again*

I should be studying for my exams now. After being 24 hours stalker for the past few days.....I'll still do the Ontama thing, be patient.

Try to Have a little patience~ (saw them in Music fair21, 歲月不留人 LOL. Kinda understand why Robbie Williams left them. Jkjk.)

I love Highway chance.

Umbrella is such a fun song to play.

Sorry for the randomness.

YUI no Ontama 27/03/2007

I'll start from part 2, because....I like it LOL. At first I tried to add icons such as hearts and music notes but failed >.< Turned out weirdly placed. So, sorry with the dull looking translations lol.

Wuu~Wang!!

*Warning: This entry is for those YUI's 'maniac' level fans out there. Hope that my explanations are clear enough lol. And you'll love dear YUI more and buy her new album.*

If you were a YUI 'follower' for quite some time, you can notice quite a number of 'trends' started by dear YUI. And us of course, 'influenced' by it and start doing it 'blindly' as well.

We have adieu which first used in her diary. Which then evolved to achiu -> ajya~ and then back to adieu again. (I can't remember the actual flow of the 'evolution' though). It's a French word btw.

Then kanipan (direct translation-> crab-flavoured bread). If I'm not mistaken YUI first knew about it in YUI radio. Where one of the fans sent a message asking her about it.

See this diary entry by dear YUI and you'll know. That is a kanipan btw.
カニパン

And then the 'infamous' pedal (effector board). I never thought that you can 'decorate' it in such way. Actually this is more a YUI 'thing', just wanna share with you guys lol.

(SOURCE: YUI-net)
More pictures @ YUI lover - 1,2,3

Then *yet-to-be-confirmed* emoticon in YUI lover: (^7^)/~~

Recently will be the wuu~wang dog sign thing.

wuu~wang!!
(SOURCE: YUI-net)

First mentioned: YUI Radio 18.
Date: 18 Jan 2007
Reason: Music Station.

YUI was going to perform Rolling Star on Music Station the next day, and some fans asked her to do some gestures/ 'stunt' which only listeners of YUI radio can understand.

Then dear YUI came up with this dog sign thing. Well actually YUI and Shigezou san (the host with weird voice) kinda discussed about it in YUI radio, I'll try to explain the part when both of them mentioning Music Station. Around minute mark (just rough translations, because it was LONG lol): 50:25

YUI: red
Shigezou: plain
me: Italics

Please watch along with the video, because it's not interesting if you only read the dialogues. Again, don't believe in everything I type.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minute: 50:25

Shigezou: YUI san, on Jan 26th, it will be Music Station live broadcast.
YUI: !!
Shigezou: YUI san, next week, next friday....
YUI: Aiks, what should I do? I'll get nervous.
Shigezou: YUI san, when you're on Music Station, as YUI radio's representative, can you do something (what is aizou?) for us which only us can understand?
YUI: What shall we do then?
Shigezou: All of us (YUI radio listeners) will support you~ Are you going to be fine that day? ganbaruyo YUI san in Music Station!! We will follow you for sure! We'll stick in front of the TV that night. Wouldn't it be great if YUI san willing to do some easy-to-understand gesture for us?
YUI: Hmm what shall I do then? Wuu....wang!? Something like that?
Shigezou: Are you SURE that you can do it???
YUI: (waves hand) No way no way.
Shigezou: You really can do it?
YUI: Cannot, really cannot. So how?
Shigezou: Lets do that thing you just did again.
YUI: This is 'wang' right? wan wan~ Wu~wang!!
Shigezou: It'll be great if you can do that in ms (Music Station).
YUI: Little kids will surprised by it.
Shigezou: Little kids...even Tamori san (the host of ms) will be surprised by it.
YUI: Yea Tamo san will be surprised by it.
Shigezou: Just do something that you think you'll able to.

Kinda tired adi LOL. I'll fast forward it now.

YUI: Ah found the wristband. What about putting on it?
Shigezou: bla bla bla
YUI: maji de? *mumbles* maji de? Seldom use this word but I used it.
Shigezou: (pretends to be the host) Next up will be YUI san's Rolling star~! *drum rolls*
YUI: *shows her hand* (minute 52:17)
Shigezou: That's impossible for you to do so.
YUI: Yea it's just impossible. It's hard for me to play guitar as well.

YUI: So how?
Shigezou: What about waving hands?
YUI: *waves hand*
Shigezou: Wonder if the audience able to see or not...
YUI: *hums the intro of Music Station and waves her hand at the same time*
Shigezou: *hums along*
YUI: I'll be nervous for sure.
Shigezou: Then just wave your hands or something. Normally people will do that during intro right?
YUI: Oh really?
Shigezou: Normally what will you do? During the opening.
YUI: *hums the intro of ms* (53:09) pam!! sayonara~
blablablabla
Shigezou: So just waves your hand as hard as you can will be enough.
YUI: I'll put on it, then bye bye, something like konnichiwa, or konbanwa. If something like this I think I can do it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then on 26 Jan 2007....as promised, she put on the white wristband~

Hence in the performance in MS you can see the white wristband on the headstock of YUI's Telecaster. I rant about it as well.

Previous entry on Rolling star performances

Even YUI's staff talked about it: YUI-net

The story ain't end yet. One month later, some fans mentioned about it again in YUI radio 20.

Second time: YUI radio 20.
Date: 7 Mac 2007
Reason: Music Station.

Around minute mark: 47:30~52:40.

I realised that if transcribe their dialogues will eat up the whole page so I'll just briefly 'digest' what they said.

A fan sent a messgae asking YUI to do the wu~wang thing in the next ms. Then Shigezou san asked YUI to do the wu~wang thing again for the listeners who didn't have the chance to watch the previous YUI radio. (49:15)

And around that time there's a YUI short poem contest going on in YUI-net and the prize was the leftover Rolling star wristband. Shigezou suggested that do something with the wristband in ms just to commemorate it.

Then comes Music Station:

And YUI did it~!! It was a REAL 'touching' moment when I first saw it T.T It might not mean anything to you people, but as a YUI-stalker for.......over a year, THAT was something.

I kinda rant about that episode too.

My entry on Music Station 9 Mac 2007.

As what people always says: Small things do matter. Even though it was done without any other intentions.

Sorry for the messy translations. Kinda fed up half way LOL. I think next time I'll just stick with writing materials. Talking parts are difficult to translate. If you have any questions, do leave a comment. Even if you don't have any questions you can always comment as well. My motivation depends on your comments haha.

Now left the Ontama thing. (motivate me please)

Till then, adieu.

EDIT: Part 2 - Wuu~nyan!!

[smart] February 2006

Promised to translate this @ YUI lover, sorry for being so late.....

Found it when I was digging around the magazines section in his blog.
