pronto pronto? VOL.09
Album: Oasis - A sides
It's good to have friends in Japan, because you can ask them to 'steal' as many free papers (Japanese English: Newspapers, brochures with a lot of advertisements and delivered for free of charge) as they can for you.
Scans can be found here.
This 'free paper' is currently 'worth' 150 yen (excluding shipping fees) in Yahoo Auction.
According to Reset, I should keep these papers, don't 'sell' it now, to increase it's resale value. Plus dear YUI is the cover girl, should cost more xD
Right now, it's RM 25 per paper (if you wish to 'get' it from me). LOL I'm evil.
Special thanks to Sim for spending 200 yen on a cup of coffee (you can find this 'paper' in some cafe) just to get these 4 papers for me. Sorry ya for making you 'stepped' out from your comfort zone lol.
Next target: VA October issue.
Dear YUI doesn't encourage her fans to buy things from auctions site though *me see nothing, hear nothing*
Till then.
PS: I read that YUI did 2 songs with Tokunaga Hideaki, Sotsugyou shashin (another song by Yuming) and CHE.R.RY (OMG?!).

ROCKIN' ON JAPAN Interview Part 5 (page 048)
Finally part 5 lol.
Chinese translations can be found at triper san's blog, he had translated the whole thing.
Part 4 & 5
Disclaimer: My JLPT level is only 3, my MUET (some stupid Malaysian English test) is band 5, just giving you guys a guideline on my language ability (I don't really know how to measure these things anyway, what do mean by 'fluent'?). Sorry if I made any stupid grammatical errors and tell me if I made any factual errors. Don't believe in everything I wrote. If you wanna copy anything from here, please ask your future readers to stop by my blog, to increase my blog traffic LOL.

High School
# In the second half of secondary school, I'm sure people around will start to think about their futures and paths. How about you?
YUI: For me......I couldn't foresee how will it turn out at all, I think I became really anxious about it. And then came high school entrance examination. It was quite difficult to travel back and forth as well. So, since I heard there are places with so called distance education system and it's cheaper, I have decided on my own to take distance learning. However deep down I still hope that I can attend high school. That's why I only said it at the very last minute, after I have decided on distance learning. Of course parents will let you attend schools for sure, it is not money related or any other matter, because they kinda have this feeling of sending you there. Even though I was the one who suggested that, I kinda had the feeling that they wanted to send me there. Because I knew that, I chose distance education system. But I still wanna go, I thought. Hence, I entered a private girls high school.
The main thing is, YUI wants to go to school, instead of study at home. When I first knew about this, I was like, people only 15 already considering lighten up her mom's load, and me?? Still receiving money from them, till now =x
# You decided to attend school at the very last minute, why is that so?
YUI: When I was in secondary school 3 year, I think it was from a soccer player, in a magazine or book or something, his comment was in it. "We have to cherish encounters when we are still young, and it's important to talk with as many people as possible." was written on it. He is a very famous person, and has this persuasiveness. That really fired me up. Meeting up with different people, it is important after all. I thought. It's like, having that interest towards new encounters or something. I thought it will be a real waste if through distance education system, I lost the chance to involve myself with people. Hence, when I said "I want to attend high school", in me I have decided I will pay the school fees myself, as a condition. If it's distance learning, on the contrary, I think I might earn more if I just work for a little bit. But if I went to normal schools, I understand that just paying the fees will be not enough for sure, and I think it will be difficult. Hence, even before entering high school, I started to look for part time jobs. Then I began to work in a Chinese restaurant nearby my house. I felt that I tried real hard to memorise things, because I entered this busy place immediately, without knowing anything or any practice. After a while I started to go music cram school, on the other hand since I frequent to city more than hometown, I began part timing in the city. Being able to get travel allowance was another reason. That was why I think I worked in the Chinese restaurant around half a year. but I gained really valuable experience from it. Such as how to deliver, mainly on serving customers. In school there was such thing as forbidding over working, and we have to submit a form regarding part timing. But if submitted I will be restricted to just twice a week or something. That was why I kept silent. "I've managed to enter, based on this let me in , please", because I said that, and just entered.
# Attending high school at the same time, doing part time almost everyday, physically it was quite tiring isn't it.
YUI: Yea. But, going to school using my hard earned money, I think it's a wonderful thing. Plus it was fulfilling, mentally. Because of that, I'm gonna get perfect attendance prize for sure! Filled with that spirit, I treated schooling seriously and enjoyed it.
# In the mean time, regarding music, and your future things like that, what, and how you thought of it?
YUI: I didn't even have enough time to sleep. Roughly 1 or 2 hours per day. It was quite a blurry period of time (laughs). I felt because of that, the time for me to think of these things gone slowly. I remembered that when I was in a packed train 5 or 6 in the morning, I wished to make a bed here and sleep on it (laughs).
# (laughs). 1 or 2 hours of sleeping time consider really impressive.
YUI: It was quite...a great feeling, I suppose (laughs). But my main goal was: Going to school, wish to treasure every encounter I have, and, looking at the adult world and gained new experiences through part timing, motivated me a lot as well. However among all these, mostly were a bunch of difficult stuff. After considered about what I thought and my worries seriously, I was able to look at things in a new perspective. And realising that I must work harder. I got a lot of criticisms when part timing, it was inevitable but, through that, I realised that we cannot wait for assistance from others forever, or having the thought of waiting people to spoon feed you everything. We have to take responsible on every action we made. That's what I felt the most. I really learned a lot from that place, one thing by another. There were a lot of great people around me, I think I have learned a lot on how to be a better person as well.
Next, hospital and quitting school.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is what I managed to 'squeeze' out. Hope you guys can get to know more about dear YUI from this. It is a really inspiring interview, no matter how many times I read it, I am still touched by it. I know it's long, but, that's how to get to know a person. Successful people usually don't complain about all the hardships they faced to reach the position they're in now, those who complain are the ones not working hard enough.
So, I shall do my homework and stop YUI-ing lol.
Till then.

Jam
YUI's first black and white/ B-sides PV.
YouTube
And I thought she was wearing skirt (blames YouTube =x ). I suspect that YUI changed her stylist recently, suddenly looks very stylish lol, it's good though, can leave better impression on people who doesn't know her.
About this PV: The director is Kubo Shigeaki, he directed My Generation PV as well. In his blog, he said that he wanted to create a black and white PV, with YUI in hoodie, singing. And showing YUI watching live performances in live house (see the sketches).
Thanks to him, we got the chance to see dear YUI in hoodie, playing solo XD
And wearing cap for the first time!! Cute!!
The director wanted to create an image of YUI, singing casually, without any idle thoughts (無心, tell me if you know any other better words in English). Even though her time is moving in slow motion, the streets are moving fast forwardly.
It started out with dear YUI, jamming with her band mates,
('stole' from NorthernLight[Zzz], thanks!!)
When she sings: Live house gaeri no band tachi~ (romanised by me lol)
('stole' from lamevil, thanks!!)
Dear YUI recalled back certain event happened few days ago. That is some sexy guitar bag. Wait till I get one electric......T.T
Why showing 'that guy' playing Stratocaster when she's talking about his Les Paul being so heavy??
Is this how YUI looked like when she's watching live performances normally?? The flipping phone part was cool XD But YUI said that she will not 'camouflage' when she's outside......what about the cap?!
After solo, YUI transforms....
Into constipated tigress *runs away for my life*
Another strap =.= Shaky camera work was done intentionally according to the director. Because of that, it is very difficult to take decent screen caps of YUI's new sunburst Tele (Updated Electric Guitars).
Lastly, the drummer is a girl. Why?
Because she wears sports bra.
Cool PV. Enough said.
PS: There are some other people in that 'garage' besides YUI and her band. I saw a gaijin woman.
I will reply the comments tomorrow lol.

The Story Behind CHE.R.RY
Album: Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories - Tails
Part of this post is dedicated to Kim, my dearie ex classmate. Since she asked it 'nicely'. I won't refuse requests as long as you ask it in a way as if I am some kind of important people xD I am reading this book now, it says that one of the things most people want is 'A feeling of importance' LOL *Runs away*
I actually ranted about this before at YL, there were 2 of it. Looking back my attempt on translating it and the discussions, time really flies fast (even though I still cannot play this song well). So, we shall start it off by analysing the lyrics (YouTube in case you do not know what the hell am I talking about):
CHE.R.RY Lyrics (by Fantasiimaker)
But before that, does this thing below looks like a cherry fruit??
.R.
If you think so, then part of the mystery solved.
Second, from the lyrics, you will know that this song is revolving around the theme, LOVE. I will quote something I wrote back then:
Basically YUI started this song with 'Spring' as the theme for the lyrics. For YUI, spring means another starting point and ending point, another encounter and separation. Starting point will be something like new semester, maybe new encounters, then the possibility of falling love, then maybe have sweet and sour memories from it, hence the title CHE.R.RY (which is a fruit obviously). Not just tastes sweet, but it has the sour feeling as well.
And YUI heard that in overseas, people will include dots between words when mailing to emphasize it. And YUI wanted to emphasize 'the bitter-sweetness when love first starts'. (taken from WHAT's IN interview)
Dear YUI had a hard time explaining to others too when she was doing promotions for this single lol, deep stuff.
That's basically the story behind this story, if you want to read/know more about it, can refer to this and this page, or ask me directly (questions such as how to play this song lol), in this post.
And to da3ta, thanks for stopping by my blog. I kinda get what you want but what do you mean by confusing, half info anyway?? Anyway I really appreciate that you read the whole thing =)
Because people seldom reads. They prefer figure it out certain things by themselves, and make assumptions on it (hypothesis xD). You assumed that dear YUI is controlled by Sony nowadays because she stopped making certain songs and more towards making mainstream music, but do you even bothered to read her interviews, analyse her lyrics, etc etc available (if possible, all) before making such statement?? A lot of other recording companies 'fighting' for YUI back then when she won the audition, she must thought about it carefully before joining them. Of course being one of the popular female artist in Japan now, the company will use different ways to boost their revenue. Language barrier is just an excuse. Sometimes people will give misleading informations as well, you can only confirm it by gaining primary information (which sadly, in Japanese), or better, don't believe it if it sounds fishy.
Translating stuff can be pain in the ass sometimes, I still have lots of debts to clear *cough*rockin'on*cough*, so da3ta, unless your 'questions' are interesting enough, I don't mind doing my best to clear all your doubts, hee.
Lastly, don't blame on others when you think that something is not feeling right. Maybe you yourself are the one who have changed.
One thing though, when people asked YUI whether if she has changed (in terms of singing), most of the time she will answer:
Back then I only sing for myself, but now knowing that so many people listening to my songs and even inspired by my songs, I feel that not just for myself, I should sing for those who is willing to listen as well, motivate them and so on (hence Rolling star and Highway chance).
Believe it or not, YUI knows that you guys miss her old stuff too. Like a chef, sometimes people just want to eat ramen made by you, they can eat katsu don at some other places made by some other people. However, YUI hopes that you will at least try katsu don made by her too.
I forgot which magazine, where she used such metaphor *swt*
Sorry, ranted too much. I am not asking you to agree though. People have their own preferences, you say that YUI's live performances sucked, maybe yes maybe no. Why should we argue on this anyway? The only thing I know is I can never sing the way she does, and no matter what you say, I am sure that YUI somehow will know about it long time before (e.g. Birthday song she did once in radio show).
That is why I seldom participate in forum debates, because 1. My English is not powerful enough to make them 'notice', 2. Such discussions will never end unless the 'main topic' do something. 3. I'm a coward. YLs are typically milder in their word choices though. Maybe it has something to do with the artist herself *bias* *bias*
Discussions are welcomed. Don't pick on my grammar though, okla since I am taking TOEFL......
I'm really good at making off topics =x
Adieu.
PS: Happy early Birthday to Emily Lin!! (13th) Hope you will grant your wishes~
PPS: As for the debate on whether pronounce ん as 'm' or 'n', if you study Japanese phonetics and phonology, you will know, there are 5 variations of it xD I think I'm gonna fail this paper LOL.

AND 5 => Use my own money to take TOEFL, which costs around RM 500 *pukes*
Have to stop procrastinating =x If you know anything about TOEFL, do tell me =D
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back to YUI:
Brings back all the memories, YUI's first ever Music Station.
YUI + Tomoyasu Hotei (another guitar PRO <- custom tele vs custom strat LOL) + Tamori san sitting together lol. I wonder dear YUI got the chance to learn some badass licks from him, or maybe she was 'afraid' of him, like what Tamori san said xD Check out his pedal board too, crazy stuff =.= I shall end my guitar drooling, here's YUI schedule for next few months (modified from 131号 san's entry):

YUI x Takeuchi Yuko Again?!
Album: GO!GO!7188 - Best Of GO! GO!
This morning I went to post office, to send this thing:
Yea I'm a minimalist =x Used the cheapest shipping option (well...), hence cannot really guarantee it will reach Japan safely (I'm not even sure that it'll reach lol, cannot trust our postal service too much). At least, I managed to pull myself from usual procrastinations and did something 'productive' for once. Maybe I will write a message to Paper plane Diary segment in YUI LOCKS. To 'notify' them.
YUI LOCKS 30/8: Highway chance from Spring & Tour jump was aired.
YUI-net has changed to LOVE & TRUTH layout!!
Me like this one:
And YUI Radio will be having YUI senryuu (川柳, a humorous Japanese poem) contest going on real time on September 5 (10:00 AM) till September 6 (10:00 AM).
Previously they have YUI tanka (a Japanese poem of thirty-one syllables), lots of fans participated it and everybody had a great laugh reading all the YUI-related poems (me too). The prizes were YUI merchandises (not the main point). So what are we suppose to do to participate this??
1. Be patient (3 more days to go)
2. Prepare your senryuu. It has the pattern of 5-7-5. You just have to come up a phrase of 5-7-5 moras which has something to do with dear YUI during that time. Means new YUI Radio #27?!
Demo from Miss Teo:
YUIさんと (yu i sa n to = 5)
同じ年のに (o na ji to shi no ni = 7)
まだまだだ (ma da ma da da = 5)
"Even though YUI and me share the same age, I still have long way to go."
Ok this is difficult, I kinda cheated as well =x I can only come up with this right now.
Next, according to this website, dear YUI will appear on Bokura no Ongaku again~!! This time her partner will be Takeuchi Yuko. Guess this one will be Closed Note special. The writer said that both of them kinda have the 'not easily defeated' aura lol. LOVE & TRUTH live orchestra version, should be interesting =D I love this program~ Can't wait!!
WAIT, I JUST SAW YUI'S NAME ON HEYx3 (September 24, Yaiko too!!). OMG!! Will YUI get 'smacked' by Hama chan?!!! Always wonder whether YUI will go to Heyx3 or not, it'll be pretty funny lol, abit worry at the same time. Since it's a special episode, don't think dear YUI will have much interactions with Downtown (that 2 hosts).
First Music Lovers, now Heyx3, what's next?? Dohmoto Kyoudai? Or...SmapxSmap (Bistro Smap LOL)?!!
New single, new magazines, less $$$
This one is a must buy:
R&R NEWSMAKER October 2007
And B-Pass October 2007 too. The interview corner in their website featured back stage snippets from magazines' staff. If you have the chance to see YUI off stage videos, (as biased as I can be) she really/ kinda treats people around her very nicely, when is she gonna use her 'superstar privilege' like what I always read in tabloids =x Anyway the staff of B-Pass said that every time after they interviewed YUI, she will always accompany them till to the exit elevator (they came to her office). So nice of her!! Another thing to learn from YUI sama ^^
We know that dear YUI loves to watch movies, nowadays people like to ask dear YUI to comment on those coming soon movies. Here's 2 of the recent ones:
Vexille (Opened at 15 August)
YUI's comment:
誰かを支配することなんて出来ない。
つまり、誰からも支配されることはない。
"It is not possible do things such as controlling someone.
In other words, it is also not possible to be controlled by someone." ('modified' abit of uchihamel's translation)
Judging from what I saw in the trailer, it has something to do with isolating controlling stuff. I just thought that YUI's comment really summed up the whole thing (even though I haven't watched it lol). *salutes* Matsuyuki Yasuko...*adds this in to-watch list*
Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten (Opens at September 8)
YUI's comment:
攻撃の裏側にあるものは
怒りではなく
悲しみだとわかった。
"I finally understand that the other side of these attacks
was not hatred, but sadness"
Something like that. Another great comment from YUI. The movie is about English punk rock band The Clash's front man, Joe Strummer. I should listen to all these 'legendary' bands more someday >.< YUI knows hella more even though she only started listens to western music when she was 15. Sex Pistols?! According to Odilon san, in R&R Newsmaker October issue, YUI said that when writing Jam, she consciously related it to songs by Sex Pistol. I must go to Kinokuniya soon!!
Read that today they will air bits of GIRL POP FACTORY. And yesterday bits of Matsurina was aired as well.
EDIT:
Such a sexy strat >.< YUI's getting more and more comfortable on stage, guitar playing was smooth too, had more interactions with band members. She improved herself again...Hopefully some cable TV will air the full show (on September 8).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is getting long, was going to rant something about myself......
Maybe next time.
Au revior.
